The Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival is nationally acclaimed as the premier ragtime destination because Sedalia is where Joplin composed and John Stark published “The Maple Leaf Rag” making American music history. An annual budget of $150,000 is supported by grants and ticket sales, however, contributions are critical to sustaining and growing this beloved attraction.
