Transitions in American Music: Thomas “Fats” Waller Thursday, 7:30pm
Ragtime was only the beginning of America’s road to musical greatness. What has followed is more than a century of songs that arguably wouldn’t even exist if not for the syncopated melodies from the turn of the 20th century. One of the direct descendants of the ragtime song is lyrical jazz. Enter the great Thomas “Fats” Waller, one of the grandest, most prolific, most well-known personalities in American history. His Harlem Stride style paved the way to jazz, as he left his indelible “Wallerized” mark on everything he touched. We pay tribute to the man behind the music in this 2-hour concert.
On line tickets not available as of May 24, 2018. Tickets remain at the Liberty Center Box Office in Sedalia.
